Contribution Design T&E Home Page Mockup Why a Redesign? One of the oldest magazines in the wealth management industry, Trusts & Estates requested a redesign to showcase the new facelift that their magazine was undergoing, to build a bigger off and online subscription base and most important of all, making their 100+ years of archived information easily searchable. The publishers wanted their site to be the industry standard supplemented by a modern look and feel.
Strategy The strategy used to approach this design was untraditional (compared to other magazine sites) because for this site, ads did not play a big role in the business model (yup, that was not a typo). As mentioned before, most of the revenue comes from site and magazine subscriptions. With an opportunity to take advantage of such fortunate events :), I was able to center the title giving the site the extra negative space it needed to portray the modern look and feel the publishers were looking for. To support the 'searchers' of the site, the search field was placed at the top for high visibility. Below is a mockup of the T&E bookstore slash library, which was another revenue driver of the site. To the right of it is the initial mockup I created, but then was informed a few weeks after that the magazine was going under a redesign (from a classical to a modern look). Note to self: Make sure no rebranding iniatives are in the near future prior to redesign. T&E Bookstore Mockup This one never made it |
