Design Brief: Create a graphic element involving type (specifically numbers) to reflect the statistical nature of this particular article (taken from the NY Times Sunday Edition).

Concept & Process
Newspapers, in general, are littered with stats about everything imaginable across the nation. With so much information being fed to people, it would leave minds in a chaotic state with numbers popping up here and there. To help depict this 'chaos', I used actionscript, which I picked up from an advanced actionscript class taken a while back at SVA (taught by Josh Davis), to generate several hundred random numbers and masked the resulting mass with the outline of the nation. Within this mass, I highlighted the appropriate number to match the specific stat referenced in each article.

The idea of a map also allowed me to lay the image across all 5 article panels, which integrated "The Week" articles into a conceptually cohesive unit. The lines between each article were extended to form a grid, which reinforced the idea of latitude and longitudinal lines as seen on maps.
