An experiemental effort to make use of all my recent Facebook status updates...
After hearing about Urbanathlon (hosted by Men's Health Magazine) from a few friends, I spread the word to my coworkers, family, and friends that I was thinking about doing it. Prior to all this excitement, I was theorizing as to how people wear suits without sweating on a hot Summer day in the NYC subway station. Theory 1: Deodorant rolled all over one's body including neck and forehead.
This year was probably the most uneventful Independence Day ever. With the nation's economy going to the shitter and our lack of luck with the war in the Middle East, I wasn't in the mood to celebrate. Instead, I chose to stay in and work on personas for a project me and my friend are handling for a client. Besides, it was raining outside... no?
Susie and I walked around the Chelsea neighborhood in search of a place to eat. We were fortunate to find a hidden treasure trove of goodness called Basta Pasta. Japanese + Italian food anyone? Prior to the search, I was wrangling RTML. Get this, it's a propreitary language used by Yahoo!'s small business storefronts. Friggin' preposterous!
Damn that Asian guy on those Great Adventure commercials. "6 flags! Mo' Fun!". Decades of fighting stereotypes shattered in 60 seconds. In other news, there was actually something noteworthy amongst the stories of death, death, and death on CNN.com.
Awesome music to work to... the Soundtracks channel on DI.FM. The tracks from Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are simply EPIC. How about listening to some of that epicness while reading this entry? :)
Mentally preparing myself to go out into the waters off of Lido Beach in Long Island. Earlier that day, I dropped by the 14th street Apple store and saw the 3 hour wait. Com'on people! If you already have the 1st gen iPhone, I think you should give other non-iPhone owners a chance to witness the new 3G model... so get outtah line! Please?
The next day, I went to the beach and end up with crazy tan lines on my back resembling that of the "Z" that Zorro carves onto his opponents. Besides the funky lines, I finally had the chance to learn how to surf... sort of. Thanks to Tom and Caesar, I figured out how to jump on top of a surfboard and then get wiped out by incoming choppy waves. Good times.
Susie and I finished off the post-it phase for a project we're currently working on. The wall in my room looks like scales pulled off of a paper fish. ![]() Before: Organizing Site Structure and Content ![]() After: Organized Site Structure and Content
One of my biggest pet peeves with the train system in NYC. I've stood plenty-o-times on the express train watching the local train fly by as we inched toward the next station. Train traffic my ass!
