Sakura Matsuri in Brooklyn, Say What?!
Sunday, 11 May 2008

Prior to heading over to Prospect Park, we took a moment to reflect and celebrate Buddha's birthday at Union Square. Buddhist monks and some other random people from the audience took 1000 bows to honor the occassion.

Ok, so after 30 minutes or so, we hop onto the subway and head over to Brooklyn. I must say, I never realized parts of New York had such scenery as that witnessed in Brooklyn. Walking only a few minutes away from the lush, peaceful park, you're in the ghetto. Walking a few minutes away from the ghetto, you're back in the park. Pretty cool and I advise that you do this during the day time. :) Oh, TV show idea... "Survivorman takes on  the ghettos of Brooklyn, NY".

So that was the filler blogisode. Not THAT bad right? For people looking to escape from the chaotic city, look to Prospect Park (especially the Botanical Garden). There's an $8(?) admissions fee, but if you want something that's cheaper (i.e. free), you could always hit up Central Park.

For more information on the Sakura Matsuri event, check out Brooklyn Botanic Garden's site
