Pull the Fire Alarm
Life
Friday, 23 May 2008

Back in high school, I remember hearing rumors that if one were to pull the fire alarm, flourescent ink would spit out from the handle. This supposedly kept students from pulling pranks and the fire alarm. Sure class could be interesting at times, but whenever that alarm went off so would a sigh of relief knowing that the next 15-30 minutes would be spent outside in the fresh air mingling with friends and not glued to a blue plastic chair. Fast forward 10 years later...

"SUCCESs" is what makes an experience stick and is also a simple, yet very effective acronoym created by the Heath brothers in their latest book, Made to Stick - Simple, Unexpected, Concrete, Credible, Emotional, and Stories (and leave the last "s" for savings?).

After finishing the book (which I highly recommend), I started thinking about recent experiences that have stuck with me and have pushed me to better myself in both a personal and professional manner. One experience was that of a color class I took this past Spring semester at the School of Visual Arts taught by Phil Warish.
